Probably my favorite concert, ever. We were 10 people back from Bob for the whole show. Super fun dance night. Really enjoyed singing with "Woman Smarter."

Heck, waiting in line for tickets for this show was a hoot. Good time. 19 years old with my whole life ahead of me.

Subject: Great energy
Like the past reviewer I just sort of stumbled upon this show. Hadn't heard it since the night of the show. Lots of vitality here. I remember being a little sleepy after the Hampton show but perked right up after the Samson opener. First China Doll for me this night. The arena is one of those old school big roof, round basketball gyms and we were way up. Sound was just ok where we were. In retrospect we shoulda pushed towards the front. This recording seems to capture the intensity of being close.

Subject: Fun day and night
Listening to this one this morning man I love the Internet archives. So much fun to go back in time and check out any show anytime. This is a very good show was a ton of fun.
Any Playin- drums- Wheel Playin China doll is hot.Throw in Uncle John's Band and we have a winner folks.
What I recall from this day and night was being in the parking lot needing to take a shower after the nights before dance fest. One of us discovered that the gym was open and the showers were free (Free meaning no one using them).A bunch of us started showering think how great it was to get a nice hot shower.Just as we were enjoying the warmth we could hear cleats coming down the hall at us. Time to go!!!! Was the football or baseball cant remember exactly which team returning from practice. They did not look at all friendly after all we stinky hippies were using there showers. As many of you probably know many of us were not the cleanest smelling or looking people at the time.Running out the door butt naked getting dressed as we ran. Will never forget the look on there faces.
Giving 5 stars because this does sound that good to me. I think it sounds better then the day of.

I loved every aspect of this show which stands as a tiny jewel in the canon of Dead shows. It sparkles very much the way Irvine in '85 did. Very different sound. I like the carnival keyboard remark. They dedicate US blues to "The Girl with Lobotomy Eyes". I've always liked that.

This was my first show. I had listened to some GD on albums before this, and I was just blown away and completely taken by surprise at the amount of energy their playing had. We had seats, but just before the show everyone started moving and we got onto the floor just in front of Phil - the farty noises another reviewer mentioned were AWESOME from a few feet away!

The thing about this show is that it was a very small venue, I think they played faster, more rockin shows in small venues - The energy in the show was intense.

It was cool seeing a show in West Virginia, but I think everyone was tired like myself from driving all the way from Hampton the night before. The show was average until.... Uncle John's! Wow! The best version I've ever seen.

of my 3rd show. I had just turned 16 - it was a birthday present from my bro. A very short, but hot show. China Doll blew everyone's minds, since it was the first in a while and was a particularly intense, albeit too fast version. Everything was played really fast that night. Very nice sounding aud.

While standing watching this show my friend turned to me and said "he's making up notes", referring to Jerry's outstanding esoteric playing that day. Being a musician for many years, I was sure my friend was right.

Wow, what a night! The electric exchange going on between band and the audience during the 2nd set is -waaay- apparent on this copy! Everything from Brent's "carnival" keyboards to Jerry's transcendant noodlings made for a truly mind-melting show. If you saw some fool up front begging for "Dark Star" after "Sugar Mags", that would be me....

Great but scarice WV Grateful Dead show, the UWVirginia was RAWKin' 4/10/1983, this I know.
The first set was fairly standard, but the 2nd set just RAWKs, I give this show a total of 4 outta 5 stars.
unknown AUD sounds good to boot,
the SBD is prefered by myself, but you kinda have to listen to that AUD source to get a feel what everyone was Really Feelin'!
